4-Class Wedding DJ Curriculum: Mastering the Art of DJing for Weddings This 4-class curriculum is tailored for DJs who want to specialize in the wedding industry. Over the course of four lessons, you’ll learn everything from reading the crowd to creating a memorable atmosphere, while mastering the technical and interpersonal skills needed to excel as a professional wedding DJ.

- Overview of Wedding DJing: The unique aspects of DJing at weddings, including music selection, timeline, and client expectations.
- Wedding DJ Equipment: Introduction to the essential gear for weddings (turntables/controllers, mixers, microphones, PA systems, speakers).
- Setting Up for a Wedding Event: Step-by-step guide on setting up your gear at the venue, ensuring sound quality and smooth transitions.
- Managing Your Playlist: How to organize your music library for quick access and tailor playlists to specific wedding moments.
- Backup Plans: Importance of having backup equipment and preparing for common technical difficulties.

- Reading the Crowd: How to gauge the mood and adjust your track selection to suit the energy of the guests.
- Music for Wedding Ceremonies: Choosing appropriate music for prelude, processional, recessional, and post-ceremony moments.
- Music for the Reception: Crafting the perfect playlist for dinner, dancing, and special moments like the first dance, cake cutting, and speeches.
- Handling Requests: How to manage guest requests while maintaining the flow of your set and meeting client expectations.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding music preferences and cultural differences to create a respectful, inclusive wedding playlist.
Objective: Master the art of emceeing and managing the flow of a wedding event from start to finish.
- Creating a Wedding Timeline: How to coordinate with the couple and wedding planner to ensure a smooth flow of events.
- Transitions Between Wedding Moments: How to seamlessly move between ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing segments.
- Emceeing Techniques: How to confidently speak on the microphone, introduce the couple, announce events, and keep guests engaged.
- Managing Special Moments: Tips for handling special moments like speeches, toasts, and first dances, and how to make them memorable.
- Working with Vendors: How to collaborate with wedding planners, photographers, and other vendors to ensure smooth transitions and event coordination.
Objective: Gain the skills needed for successful live performances, client interactions, and troubleshooting during weddings.
- Engaging with the Couple and Guests: How to connect with the newlyweds, handle client expectations, and create a positive experience for the couple and guests.
- Event Troubleshooting: Dealing with potential issues during the event, such as equipment failure, late schedules, or sudden changes in plans.
- Performance Tips: How to remain calm, confident, and professional in high-pressure wedding environments.
- Promoting Yourself as a Wedding DJ: Strategies for marketing your services, building your reputation, and attracting future clients.
- Creating Lasting Memories: How to ensure your wedding DJ services leave a lasting impression and encourage client referrals.
Students should have a basic ability to create music productions, including a working knowledge of musical terms and concepts.
